Hi Tom,
a good naturalistic photo must also (or above all) to be explanatory.Technically, as you write, it's far from perfection, but the moment you caught is exceptional.Personally i think that the blur -although not wanted- gives the feeling of frenzy, something very suited to this scene.Purists will turn up their noses, but i think it's a good picture.

Hello Tom
It is a good photo but as you wrote if the
subjects where perfectly focused, you captured
a AOUTCH action photo, aoutch because it hurts !
the motion blur it shows the speedy action, TFS

Eww! a bag and tag photo. I can hear the scream. I agree with other, blur gives sense of motion when looking at a still image. a great shot. Wish I was there. :)

Hello Tom,
What a moment! I think you see more on this photo than in reality. The deadly pose and scream of the fawn is very impressive and unforgetable. Great action photo.

Peter

Hello Tom,
It's clearly a excellent action scene, that you captured at the very right time to make it unforgettable. As many peple here, I think that blur strengthens the feeling that the scene creates.
The position of the fawn is incredible.
To be consistent with what I said in the previous action scene you posted her, the framing is almost perfect (almost for the missing tail!), I prefer really this one.
Philippe.

Hi Tom,
As I just returned from Etosha, this picture really makes me home-sick, longing back to the early morning drives, action, surprises and I can go on and on. A Great action capture of true Africa. It tells a story of it's own and for the photographer, memories and the fact that you witnessed mother nature in all it's forms. The slight blur only indicates the speed of the two animals. Well done for a brave shot in very difficult conditions my friend.
Best regards,
Carl

Dear Tom,
I frankly do not understand why you - of all people - mention in your notes remarks some morons might make.
any negative uttering is based on sour grapes only!
One animal dies to feed another one; the survival of the fittest applies.
From the photographic point of view - the story your photo depicts - is breathtaking! If there was no blur, it would be a static image of animals. Same principal applies as in F1 races.
Everybody, who has experienced a kill in Africa knows, that your eyes do not move quickly enough, your brain does not register quickly enough the action.
I think, your work is exceptional - and I wish - there was a place to exhibit perfection.
I thank you for sharing your brilliant work, greetings from Limpopo
And warm regards to your family,
Ingrid
