Class: Aves
Order: Phoenicopteriformes
Family: Phoenicopteridae
Genus: Phoenicopterus
Species:P. roseus

The Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in parts of Africa, southern Asia (coastal regions of Pakistan and India), and southern Europe (including Spain, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy and the Camargue region of France). Some populations are short distance migrants, and sightings north of the breeding range are relatively frequent; however, given the species' popularity in captivity, whether or not these are truly wild individuals is a matter of some debate. A single bird was seen on North Keeling Island (Cocos (Keeling) Islands) in 1988.
Korba is located on the peninsula of Cap Bon, one of the most popular destinations for travelers. The town of Korba offers its guests a lagoon from the beautiful white sand beaches that go on for 15 miles along the coast. The surrounding environment is pristine and you can admire numerous species of birds, flamingos wild ducks, and in winter many species of migratory birds.

In Italia nidifica regolarmente in Sardegna, Puglia, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Toscana, Sicilia e Lazio.

Ciao Luciano,
I love flamingos since I saw flocks of hundreds of birds in Luderitz, South West Africa.
The were not shy, and we were able to approach them quite closely and watch them.
Your photo is breathtaking and demonstrates the beauty and elegance of these birds.
I found your notes very interesting, and add your work to my theme "Animals' Behaviour ".
The soft colours of the landscape are - as all evening photos - very pleasing.

Thanks for sharing,
Buona notte

Hi Luciano,

Splendid view of the corner, all this flamingos in the foreground.
Very good sharpness and great light, excellent pov and frame.
Very nice shot, TFS.
My best regads.

Bonsoir Luciano,

Beautiful scene and beautiful photo Luciano! Very good composition, wonderful colours and good sharpnees!

Hello Luciano,

Hope you are well.A great opportunity you had for shooting these beautiful birds which are so different and colourful. I think your new Sony camera has helped you take this wonderful long distance shot of these feeding flamingos. The view is wonderful and so is the map. The city is quite close by and yet this place ,water body, looks great and attracts so many birds.
Thanks a lot for sharing an exotic location and birds in there, take care,

warm regards,

Bonjour Luciano,

great marsh, I wish I could see it, greetings Ori

Ciao Luciano
What a great scene from Tunisia, with pinky flamingos. Nicely composed and presented. Sunset light Show them very beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
All the best

Hi Luciano,
Incredible shot, I like the 4 straight layers (greeenery, lake with birds, greenery, sky) and the mass of flamingos in the water very much. As I see, lights were very harsh, so I guess you had difficulties to avoid overexposure on the bright plumages of the birds. But managed to do so. :-) Except for that dead tree (?) at right (which might be cropped) I love the pic. Congrats and tfs.
Best regards, László

dear Luciano,
