Back from bicycling:
I was turning stones in the desert steppe of Southern Tunisia at Bir Soltane when this nice and fat scorpion showed up. It is supposed to be Androctonus australis, the "Southern Man-killer". I found out that more animals are found under the stones in slight depressions of the ground; some residual humidity may be the reason for this.
I had to be careful when turning stones: scorpions and the Sahara Double-horned Viper Cerastes cerastes can sting. I saw the snake's sidewinding traces in the sand.
