In danger of extinction (LR)IUCN
Class Mammal
Order Artiodactyla
Male 220-270 kgs

Waterbuck are herbivores which generally feed on long grass and lettuce-like plants. In winter plants and fruit dropped by baboons make up part of their diet. The gestation period is 230 days and they can mate at any time of the year. They are easily identified by the large white circle of hair on their rump.

Waterbuck are active early in the morning and in the evening. In addition, they continue feeding at night. They move in herds of 6-12 members. This number can sometimes rise to 30.

Nice photo Suha, the overall waterbuck seems flat because of the 600 mm lens I think but DOF is great to pull the animal front. Thanks for sharing your photo and information.

Very nice capture!
Excellent details, composition, tones.
The another animal in the background looks fantastic!
Well done!
