Hi Gerhard,
Great capture! I was shooting this exact type of bird yesterday but did not manage what you have done here! Lovely timing and freezing of the action, the image IS sharp. It looks like he's skidding on top of the water.

You got a great lens there, I wish I had one ;)
I look forward to seeing more shots from that heavy lens of yours!

It's nice to see a post from you again and now taken with a new toy. A mortgage loan ? ;-))
The details and sharpness are spot on. I like the mirror effect in the wings. Lovely colours and well composed.

Oh dear, what a funny situation you have captured here Gerhard. Is this bird selfpropelled or did you cloe out the wire to the boat;-0).

Called in to my local camera shop today and they had a 2nd hand 500 sigma in the window as it was next to a nikon I thought it might be my lucky day, no such luck it was for a cannon ;0((.
the result of your 2nd morgage is stunning in its detail especially in the water splash. I can see some amazing shots coming up. TFS yours Robert

WOW! An excellent shot. The timing is perfect, and the action is frozen perfectly with the high shutter speed. It looks like some tricky light there, but you handled it extremely well. The colors and detail across the tonal range looks very impressive. A nice one!

Gerhard, this is exceellnt! What a shot, it looks like he's on wet ice. You timed it perfectly showing this amazing feat. Isn't nature wonderful how their bodies are geared up to do this.
