[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Adelie penguins are found in the Southern Ocean round Antarctica. They breed further south than any other penguin, venturing about 100 km (60 miles) from the sea to their nest sites on the Antarctic mainland. The males and females take turns to incubate the egg and feed the chick while their partner is out at sea.

In 2010 we did a trip to the Antarctic Peninsula. The goal of this trip was to cross the circle. We left from Ushuaia and after 3 nights and 2 days we arrived at the South Orkney Islands. Here we met the first Penguins (Gentoo/Chinstrap). When going further south we saw less and less animals. Around the polar circle hardly any animal is living except for the Adelie Penguin.

Penguins are very special birds. They can not fly but swim very good. When they walk it looks a little clumsy but they move quite fast.

Hereby another picture of my bucket list (make a picture of all the Penguin species in the wild).
