King Penguin Aptenodytes patagonicus

King Penguins population on the Word: 4 millions,
King Penguins visits neighborhood of Arctowski Station, during my 15-th month stay in Antarctica: 1 (ONE).

It is second largest penguin species on the World. This one was just visiting our Island: King George Island. This penguins are living more north from South Shetland Island more in subantarctic regions like a Falkland Islands.

This King Penguin visited us for one week 10 kilometers from our Polish Station on a beach in Blue Dyke Cove - we were making a pilgrimage to see it. It was first King Penguin since 2004 on our Island.

Hi Piotr,
Great angle shooting upward. He really does look like a king peering down disdainfully.... beautiful colours and lovely clarity of his plumage. Just a pity that the tip of his beak is a bit blurred.... still, great capture.

amazing close-up portrait of the wonderful penguin with excellent sharpness, perfect exposure,
terrific colors and awesome details, especially on the feather-structure.

Hello Piotr,
Very special POV. Was it sitting on you?
Perfect sharpness and beautiful dramatic colours with an outstanding coloured BG. Great composition.
TFS, Peter

Lovely photo with an unusual composition. I love the lens looking up. It is almost as if the King is too good to look directly into the lens. Great lighting, texture, and overall composition. A spectacular shot!
