Elephant seal, female.

Males are up to 5 tons, females weight are 4-5 times lower. On King George Island we have a lot of elephant seals. We count them each 10 days on 10 km shore distance. In October male strat to fight and start reproduction (in this time it is totally about 1500 of elephant seals on the beach!), after delivery hundreds (last summer it was about 400) of beautifull calfs are on the beach, than until end of February is perod for mealting ('elephants seals change their skin'). From February to October elephant seals back to the Ocean it's feeding pierod, in this time you can find also a lot of them, resting on the beach.

Great composition, cropping and framing. A super smile as well.
Excellent work!

Very nice shot, Piotr!

Well framed with nice details, The stone takes little bit of attention. You can make it darker or even remove from your nice photo and make it much better. TFS

Wow, wonderful capture, Piotr, especially in the wild. I love the expression and the tight crop that focuses us on that. Well done!

Super cliché. Meric

Most certainly! :)
Excellent capture and presentation. The tight framing works efficiently here and goes well together with the broad frame. It really concentrates on the wonderful facial expression. The texture of that broad nose that nearly bursts the frame is amazing. The tilted position makes the viewer tilt the head too, and that goes together with the bodylanguage. You make yourself smaller and seem more attentive when you tilt your head (homo sapiens, that is). Really has that up-close-and-personal feel. HUGE visual impact, excellent!

What a wonderful close-up to this gigantic beast, Piotr. : )
Back in February 06, I posted a long series of shots on elephant seals.
I really like them. They are fascinating animals.
This capture is very sharp and well exposed.
I like your tight crop and presentation.
TFS. : )

This is a super shot. I love the up close and personal pictures. I could swear I see a smile!! Great frame, great detail. Good job.

Hi Piotr

No time tonight to give a proper critique, but well worth the green smiley. :-)

Excellent, Piotr!A lovely smile!
Best regards

Hi Piotr, if you could have snuck up quietly and removed the large pebble in front that would be great! However, I understand that that may have been a little difficult *grin*. It is a beautiful tight crop, the detail is fantastic and your DOF works really well. I love the expression and your low POV. I think you've created a perfectly lovely and novel image here, it has great impact. Very well done :)

Hello Piotr,

Whar an amazing closeup of that elephant seal!!! I like your composition: the head forming a diagonal: great idea! Details are awesome and colors, very natural! Great jon and TFS,
