Puschkinia scilloides is a beautiful small bulb, blooming just after snow melts. You can see in the picture the dry grass that was pressed under the snow all winter.

Lovely species! I thought it was an appropriate homage to Alexander Pushkin, but it is named after Apollos Apollosovich Mussin-Pushkin (1760 1805) a Russian chemist and botanist...
