The height of this formation at the Stone Forest is estimated at approximately 30 metres. Shilin National Park, also known as The Stone Forest, is situated 80 Km from Kunming City in southwest China and is 350 square Km in size. The park is subdivided into six scenic areas and is a Unesco-Proclaimed World Heritage Site. The limestone deposit dates from the Upper Permian Period with an age of more than 250 million years. The shapes of the limestone formations at the surface are the result of slow chemical weathering over a long period of time.

The low POV was effective to achieve an imposing perspective.

Hi Neels,
Amazing formation, really looks like an elephant's head. Great composition and beautiful light management (no blown out parts on the whites, but no underexposure on the dark parts either). Stunning shot, congratulations!
