Dear all,

this Black-crested Bulbul was taken in the Edward Youde Aviary of Hong Kong Park, where an elevated walkway allows visitors to walk through the tree canopy and get really close to the birds.

I hope you'd like this photo. I look forward to your comments and pointers for improvement. many thanks!

The Black-crested Bulbul, Pycnonotus melanicterus, is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia.

This is a bird of forest and dense scrub. It builds its nest in a bush; two to four eggs is a typical clutch.

The Black-crested Bulbul is about 19cm in length, with a long tail. It has olive upperparts and bright yellow underparts. The head, throat and crest are black. Sexes are similar in plumage, but young birds are duller than adults. The flight is bouncing and woodpecker-like.

Fantastic catch. The full leaf show eh? If it were Olive then he could haev been biblical in proportions...but honestly the leaf in the mouth makes this image quite humorous...it also gives the bird some stature and size...very nicely presented.

Hi MY Wong,

Well composed and humorous picture!
And, I like the color balance/sharpness between green leaf, black neck and yellow body as well as cute eye of this bird.
If I say the desire a little, it's better to improve it because it looks monotonous a little the background, I think.

Merhaba Man Yee,
Yaprak kuşun kafasındaki ayrıntıları perdelemeden çekilmiş olsaydı çok güzel bir kare olacaktı diye düşünüyorum. Yine güzel bir çalışma. Eline sağlık.

Hello Man Yee,
Superb humorous shot of black crested bulbul by you. Excellent POV & composition. TFS
