This picture was taken at Purbasthali(Chupi) in Burdwan district of the state West Bengal, India, 120 kms north from Kolkata.Purbasthali lies on the banks of a large oxbow lake created by the river Ganges.The Black-headed Ibis or Oriental White Ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus) breeds in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia from northern India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka east up to Japan. Resident and locally migratory. It occurs in marshy wetlands inland and on the coast, where it feeds. Large white bird with naked black head and neck, and long, stout down-curved curlew-like black bill.
