[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Blue-eared Kingfisher (Alcedo meninting) is found in Asia, ranging across the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is found mainly in dense shaded forests where it hunts in small streams. It is darker crowned, with darker rufous underparts and lacking the rufous ear stripe of theCommon Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) which is found in more open habitats. A number of subspecies have been described that differ in measurement and colour shade. Adult males have an all dark bill while females have a reddish lower mandible.

Hallo Joydeb
You captured this Blue-eared Kingfisher in a great pose showing the details of brightly coloured wings beautifully. The fish in its beak is an additional bonus and a delightful one too. Not that I am delighted to see a dead fishy but a delight to see that the kingfisher caught himself a meal. Pleasant point of view and framing. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

Hello Joydeb,
This is an outstanding shot. Classic pose of Kingfisher with the fish in a beak, that always look great and very good quality. I like it a lot!Regards Siggi

These Kingfishers must have excellent dexterity in there beaks. Wonder how many times they "drop" their fish?! Very nice image with great POV which shows a linear effect, i.e., long beak, head, body and single limb all going the same direction. Interesting to see the water droplets adhering to the breast area!! Nice work. TFS

Hi Joydeb
Happy New Year. What a colourful bird. Great timing he won't need to eat for a while. You caught the light just right to capture the head and wing detail.
I also like your POV and composition

God morning Joy,
Very nice picture of this colourful bird you captured very well in a perfect moment. colour and sharpness is very good. Perfect light also.
Regarding the ID it is a Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) not the Blue-eared Kingfisher (Alcedo meninting). Orange colour below the eye is the main character of the Common Kingfisher. Please verify.
with best wishes.
