Clouds, can bring happiness at the same time fear and anguish. In a dry land it brings light of hope yet in a wet land it gets fear of floods. Clouds have decorated many pages of literature, in poems, verses, lyrics and others.
Clouds take different formations and shapes to tickle the creative mind, sometimes it is a likes flock of birds flying and sometimes it is an angry face. The process of cloud forming with thunder and lightening and finally bursting into rains can be very dramatic almost like a heavenly theatre in progress.

Yet clouds have different names and all clouds don't bring rain. Clouds form when the dewpoint of water is reached in the presence of condensation nuclei in the troposphere. Atmosphere is a dynamic system, and the local conditions of turbulence, uplift and other parameters give rise to many types of clouds. Various types of clouds occur frequently enough to have acquired a name of their own, often these are further specified with additional descriptive name. Furthermore, some atmospheric processes can make the clouds organize in distinct patterns such as 'wave cloud' or 'actinoform cloud', these are large scale structures and not always readily identifiable from single point of view. There are also Scirocco and Chinook clouds along with a lot of other types of clouds.
They are classified on basis of the height at which they exist and also other factors. Some very broad classifications are Altos Cirrus, Stratus, Culumnus and Nimbus. Also, high level clouds, middle level clouds, low level clouds and vertically formed clouds.

This photograph was taken from a small boat during my trip to Taki a small locality situated in the outskirts of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Not sure but probably the clouds in this photograph is of Cirrus - Stratus clouds.

nice photo. The cloud formation is just brilliant and it is nice that you captured the right moment.
I only feel that the corners are a bit too dark. May be an artifact of levels adjustment.

Fantastic cloud formation, Paromita.
You have captured it with professional ease and confidence.
The various subtle shades of colours contrast well with the deep blue sky.
A thin strip of land or sea at the bottom to connect the clouds with the earth would have given a greater dimension to your picture; try it sometimes.
Keep shooting and all the best.
