[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Friends, for the sake of fun, I am posting a picture of mating bugs which I had taken at a hill station called Shimla in India during my early days on TN.
I had just been gifted a Sony P200 point-and-shoot camera by my colleagues in Riyadh on my 60th birthday and I was very eager to use it during the summer vacation I would spend in India. I liked that camera and actually took many pictures with it that summer.
As luck would have it, my grand-daughter dropped it inadvertently on the floor the other day and its receding lens got jammed midway. I will get it repaired soon since it is a gift of love from my old colleagues.
In terms of critical evaluation of one's own work in retrospect, I would say that I was impatient and impulsive at that time. If I had contemplated for a moment before taking this shot, I would surely have tried to get the eyes of these mating bug in clear view. But all you get to see in this picture are the underbellies of the two bugs and the dark horizontal lines on them. Of course, I had posted pictures of these insects from dorsal point of view at that time, though I had poor editing skills then and had presented rather dull images of them. Now I feel cocky about those skills in a kind of self rightous way :).

These bugs belong to Pyrrhocoridae family of bugs, so here is a brief note on them:

Pyrrhocoridae is a family of insects with more than 300 species world-wide. A common species in parts of Europe is the firebug. They are part of the order Hemiptera which are also known as the 'true bugs'. A few are important crop pests. They are called cotton stainers because their red bodies get crushed along with the cotton they eat when it is harvested, and these stains are difficult to remove. Their feeding mechanism also cuts the fibres and hence affects the growth of the cotton ball. They caused massive problems in the United States during the industrial boom.

Merhaba Ram, çok harika bir kompozisyon ; renkler, netlik ve ışık çok güzel olmuş.
Tebrik ederim.

Hello Ram !
This is a perfect exampleof how much we can learn about photography in a short time, here on TN. It's the same for me, when I look at my old pictures I wonder why I posted it, because they are very poor quality ! :-) But I must admit I like to see the bug's underbellies, beautiful colos, and it's quite an unusual POV. Ialso like the vivid green, making a nice contrast with the red bugs. Very well done !
Valérie.
