[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Common Hawk-Cuckoo (Hierococcyx varius), popularly known as the Brainfever bird, is a medium sized cuckoo resident in South Asia. It bears a close resemblance to the Shikra, a sparrow hawk, even in its style of flying and landing on a perch. The resemblance to hawks gives this group the generic name of hawk-cuckoo and like many other cuckoos these are brood parasites, laying their eggs in nests of babblers. During their breeding season in summer males produce loud, repetitive three note calls that are well-rendered as brain-fever, the second note being longer and higher pitched. These notes rise to a crescendo before ending abruptly and repeat after a few minutes, the calling may go on through the day, well after dusk and before dawn.

Hello Goldy,
How nice to see a new photo. Beautiful shot of this Common Hawk-Cuckoo in good sharpness and natural colours. Pleasing eye contact. Maybe you can crop a piece of the right side to get the bird more out of the centre. Beautiful blue sky in the BG.

hello Goldy

happy to see new photo from you, excellent and
very beautiful photo of the Common Hawk-Cuckoo,
with fine POV and framing, excellent focus
sharpness and details, and a lovely eye-contact,

Hello Goldy,
Great capture with good details of Brainfever bird. What makes it's name as brain fever??? TFS
PS: Recently visited Dhikala & it was great disappointment since entire chaur (>80%) was submerged with barrage water.

Hi Goldy.
Pictured species is very attractive and I like how well you have reproduced its wonderful feathers, chest, tail, head and charming impressive eye. Sharpness of the image is simply great, lights and colours of the shot are also fine. Well done and kind wishes.

Very good technically. Then we have those ever prevalent cables I see so much in India....Ram is good at posting them as perches..due to lack of trees i suspect...wish I had some feathers from this bird but not allowed int eh US...I think! If it is indigenous to the US then I cannot have them. If it is ten they are not allowed under federal law...crazy!Bob

Hallo Goldy,
a very good capture of the Common Hawk-Cuckoo, superb sharpness and fine details on the plumage with very beautiful colours, a very pleasing composition with a great eye contact
Best regards

Hallo Goldy
Great to see you around again. Hope you are not going to do a dissapearing act soon. Beautiful bird that looks as if it is posing especially for you. Technically well done, the details are sharp and the colors well contrasted. The details in the feathers are seen beautifully against the clear blue sky, especially the lovely tailpiece. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Bonjour Goldy,
Meilleures salutations

Hi Goldy,

What a beautiful shot - wish it was mine! I have never seen a Common Hawk-Cuckoo before - love that word "Common" as part of this handsome bird's name. The pose and the capture are picture perfect with wonderful details and colors of the face, eye and feathers. The familiar looking blue sky makes a perfect background An impressive composition.

Hello Goldy, my brother
I missed this shot. it is very nice. focus, eyes contact and coloration great. nicely captured against blue sky. nicely composed. It is very similar to Common Cuckoo here. there is a bit difference in details.
thanks for sharing. best wishes

Interesante trabajo con la luz y los colores con unos resultados muy conseguidos.
Difícil ángulo des disparo pero muy bien captada el ave. Un excelente trabajo.

Hi Goldy,

The bird is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the Common Hawk-Cuckoo. The late morning light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Goldy, dear,

The colours are all so very natural.
