[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photograph facing Sun. At an elevation of 11,800 feet above mean sea level, Yumthang is a high altitude tourist destination of Sikkim. Surrounded by snow capped mountains and alpine dense forest, this is a valley not quite far from the Chinese Boarder. In fact, the mountain peaks all around are so close, for the uninitiated, it might seem a matter of minutes to reach from Yumthang. The river Lachung Chu passes through the valley although it is a small stream and hardly shows any sign of dangerous fury till it reaches Chungthang and meets Lachen Chu to form the river Tista. Yumthang visit is ideal during the first half of the day when the weather remains at its best.

Apart from the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, Yumthang is also known for the rhododendrons. The area falls under the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary. During the months of April and May the whole valley comes to life with blooming rhododendrons. No wonder then that the valley is known as the Valley of flowers as well.

Hi Mr. Subhash,
A nice captured mountain scape. Very good composition and view. Thanks a lot for sharing.

You had some nice lens gear on there good Doctor! I can truly see your love of the mountains. If you are married, as I have never asked...your wife must be a camera widow:-) You sure do get around for a man of such intellect!

Hello Subhash !
Great picture again from you, just like I like them - dark silhouette of the tree, and then the mountains covered in snow in the BG. Composition is just splendid. The mountains looks impressive, too - I bet you have felt very small, at the feet of this giant. Very well done !

Hi Subhash,

A beautiful capture of these natural mountains. TFS.

Hi Subhash,

I think of Switzerland each time I see your shots of the snow capped mountains. Another beautiful scene looking at the mountains through the trees. Once again, the red rocks are visibile. Your mixture of blue skies and clouds are always beautiful. Here, we usually have one or the other.
