Yumthang in North Sikkim is one place which should be visited by all of us. This is not for sake of tourism but for us to see an unscathed beauty of Great Himalayas in the closest proximity with alpine forest all around with several kinds of lichens, orchids and rhododendrons.

This mystique view was shot by me close to the entrance of Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary at Yumthang. I could see through my zoom lens the melting glacier coming down like a snow slide with multicolored clouds all around the peaks when clicked against the Sun. This was true heavenly display & I had enjoyed every second spent in Yumthang.

National Poet Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' has described in his poem the loftiness of the Himalayas that reflects metaphorically the Mahatma, whom he invokes to rise to action, leaving the path of the mystical meditation of the ascetic.

"My king of mountains! My magnificent one!
Radiant embodiment of great glory!
Flame of fierce, accumulated prowess!
Snowy diadem of my motherland!
Effulgent brow of my Bharat (India)!
My king of mountains! My magnificent one!"

Hi Subhash,

How wonderful to capture this snow slide caused by a melting glacier. It reminds me of pictures I have seen of avalanches in Colorado. You captured the moment well. The colors in the sky are lovely and compliment the black and white of the mountains and snow.

hello Subhash

an excellent Landscape photo of these GREAT Mountains,
with fine POV, excellent details, i love the composition of
your photo it has the effect like an old film camera image,

Hi Subhash

Inspiring picture and notes! I am very keen to head to that park of the world now.

Wonderful words to go with a grand image...After hanging out wit the Whittakers who have done more climbing than anyone I know of in the world...I can now see why this climbing would not be my life's choice. Jim Whittaker says "You cannot conquer a mountain. You CAN conquer yourself" This is one of his favorite sayings which he coined shortly after being the first American on Everest...BTW he is still quite alive and staying u He is also well know for is saying. pakc it in and pack it out!

It's a true delight to see this moment!!! Moreover, you have registered it FOREVER.
Congratulations, my dear friend for sharing with the world: " ...My king of mountains! My magnificent one! "
