Lotus is the national flower of India. It has been connected to Gods in many ways in India.

This photo was taken at Bibi Ka Makbara, Aurangabad. The white lotus symbolizes calm and peace. Even one can see a water droplet on one of the petals.

Please excuse me to correct you.
This flower is not Lotus. This is Nymphaea sp., commonly known as Water Lily.
The Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) also grows in water and looks quite similar. Please see,
