|Kentish plovers at Kihim beach near Mumbai. They were there in good nos. Seem to stick to the wetter parts of the beach. |
They allowed me a very close approach though i was forced to discard my stand as it did not allow me to get low enough. Then i moved in closer sidewinding on knees & elbows till i was at my lens closes focussing distance 2.5m.
The funny part was they kept me behind their back no matter how much i tried. I go very few chnces on side presentation.
Manual metering 1.5 stops under to try & avoid the whites from burning.

Nice capture of this plover despite the difficulties you had on the sand. This is sharp, well lighted and well presented.
To me the beak seems a bit thick for it to be a Kentish Plover. I wonder if it is a Lesser Sand Plover in winter plumage? They have the habit of gathering together with the Greater Sand Plover in large flocks on sandy beaches.
