[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

I had never seen this arboreal rat ever before. In fact, I came out of my hut at Mahabaleshwar Hill Station to see any wildlife in the night & found this rat perching on the branch of a tree. I was told by the locals that they stay on the trees only. I do not know its scientific name !!! Any one has seen them in India !

In Australia; the Black-footed Tree-rat is considered one of the most deadly animals in the world. A single bite will initially swell for a few days, after which it will cause the victims cells to break down and disintegrate. It usually leads to death within two weeks and there is no known cure.

excellent close-up photo of this species of rat
shot on difficult conditions, beautiful eye-contact
and catch-light, you did in excellent focus on it,
is it his tail that it is that much long on
the photo or it is a branch ?
