Urban Wild....The Hunt
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|I culminate this Urban Wild series with the Hunt in which our two protagonists which I had shown individually in last 2 posts, the Juvenile Female Shikra and the Indian Flying Fox or the Great Fruit eating bat engage in a desperate battle for survival.|
Again to remind you this happened in the premises of our residential society and this was taken from the window of my apartment.
I preferred to take a video of this rather unique action for obvious reasons and hence had to settle for only a few shots I could grab in the beginning. The constant and sudden movement, cloudy light, distance and lot of excitement meant that this was the best I could manage in the 5-6 shots I took. Considering the location, I could do little to avoid the vehicles in the background.
After repeated attacks on the Shikra with its wings and claws the Bat managed to escape. The 2 earlier posts were after the first escape. Finally the Shikra won this struggle for survival.

Fantastic moment and quite a good pic for a fast action pic.
best regards and thanks for showing this very interesting situation.
Here, the expression in the eye of the predator is that of triumph, Himanshu. From this angle, the bat seems to have turned a bit inconsequential. In fact, it did not look like a Bat to me at all in the first glance. The focus could have been a tad sharper with faster shutter speed.
All in all, an exciting pictorial story of struggle for existence.
stunning and perfect action shot with good sharpness and colour.
