In the English-speaking world, it commonly refers to members of this family's genera Sciurus and Tamiasciurus, which are tree squirrels that have large bushy tails, and are indigenous to Europe, Asia and the Americas. Similar genera are found in Africa.

The Sciuridae family also include flying squirrels, as well as ground squirrels such as the chipmunks, prairie dogs, and woodchucks. Members of the unrelated family Anomaluridae are sometimes misleadingly referred to as "scaly-tailed flying squirrels".

Hi Ganesh,
Nice shot on this cute little squirrel. Only the background is a bit busy. Very well done.

Hi Ganesh,
Lovely shot of my favourite local wildlife! When my mom was alive, she would feed them every day. This particular sweetie has especially dark stripes against light coloured fur. Very nice! TFS.
Cheers, Uma

This is a nice shot of the cute squirrel Ganesh. There is a lot of noise in the image though.

Hi Ganesh

A cool capture of an everyday occurence in our urban landscape! How did you get so close??

Hi Ganesh,
A very good capture of the squirrel. Excellent POV and action. But the BG seems slightly busy. Anyway thanks a lot for sharing.

Nice shot.

un tres leger manque de piqué selon moi, mais une jolie petite creature en train de casser la croute.
merci du partage car ici on ne les voit que dans les animaleries.

Hello Ganesh,
Nice capture of a striped squirrel that must be fairly used to human presence. You caught with a nice pose. If you could have taken this from a lower POV you might have solved the BG problem, but it is a nice shot.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan
