The Green/Azure Sapphire (Heliophorus androcles) is a small butterfly found in India that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family.
A somewhat common butterfly of 30-35 mm. Upper surface of male wing brilliant metallic green or blue in colour. Female wing brown with golden-copper tinge and with an orange patch in the middle area of the fore-wing. Hind wing with a tail like elongation, with an orange band on the outer edge in females.
Size-3.5 cm
Altitude (most commonly found) 1300 3500m ASL
Very common

Open areas, gardens, flowers including marigolds
Females similar to females of many other Sapphires

I'm not sure I understood your notes but I assume this is a male and female of the same species. Wonderful to see the differences between them. Both are beautiful with lovely colors and good details.

This is a new species to me. Both upperwing and underwing are well seen. Beautiful butterfly from the blue family. TFS this fine image.
