Friends, first of all, I must thank you all for your kind critiques on my previous post.
My internet connection at home is temporarily out of action, so I could not write return critiques yesterday and am posting my picture today from my work place. I will try to catch up with the backlog as soon as possible.

To continue with my theme of life systems existing on some plants, I am posting yet another picture of a colourful, blue-eyed Grasshopper sitting atop the flowers of Calotropis plant -- an Asian Milkweed that grows in abundance on dry shrublands. The plant is also known as Crown Plant.
Though Haraprasan is of the opinion that this could be a Painted Grasshopper, I have my doubts. I have seen many pictures of Painted Grasshopper on bugguide.com and I feel the American specimens look quite different from what I have captured here in India. Broadly speaking, it could be a Painted Grasshopper native to Asia/India.
However, reverting to my theme, I observed that the species of insects that thrive on this poisonous plant are only these grasshoppers and Seed Bugs.
My observation is based on two different locales 40 kilometers apart -- Okhla Bird Park in Delhi and an interior valley on the highway between Gurgaon and Faridabad in Haryana state. At both locations, both these insects were seen living off the plant. Surprisingly, there was no other insect in sight.
I have already posted the pictures of these insects shot in both the locations.

For information on the plant/insects, please refer to my previous posts.

TFL and have a great weekend.

Hi Ram,

Thanks for posting.

Hello Ram!
This time only a short comment - a lot of work before next trip this Monday...
Very nice picture with very good comosition, but what I like the most is - the object! Thanks to your pictures (this and some earlier) I saw this little Orthoptera larvae for the first time. I have to say that this is one of the most colourful grasshopper I have seen in my life! And its colouration clearly suggests that it has to be poisonous, as you marked in the note :)
Well, thank you for showing this lovely creature and I hope to see soon some other amazing Asian intects from you!
Friendly yours,

Hello Ram,

Superb composition with an excellent POV. Great focus and wonderful detail. Very good light and splendid colours.

Hello Ram,
Another excellent capture showing this beautiful grasshopper or nymph on the pretty Milkweed. I like the diagonal lines in the composition and details are very sharp. Lovely colours and the green background makes it really stand out.
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Hi Ram.
Top quality close-up picture of amazing subject. Both plant (with flowers) and insect are wonderful. I have never seen such colourful and beautiful insect. Technically and esthetically shot is simply outstanding. I am impressed with precise exposure and colout tone reproduction, great DOF and sharpness of the main objects, fine smooth and also colourful BG. Composition is spot on too. Bravo and my congratulations.

Great title to a great macro, Ram!
The colourful grasshopper nymph is well placed in relation to the Milkweed flower and the overall sharpness is excellent against an OOF BG. Your recent series of shot a joy to look at and this is no exception.
Thank you!
Best regards, Ivan

this is a very interesting shot of the really colorful GH and very well presented too.
And a lovely and informative note to go with it.
In a short span i've become a fan of your pics and the notes that go with them.

Dear Ram Sir,
As said before, you have made us see so much in this milk plant only....is there anything still left!!! I have sharpened the main subject in a WS, hope you like it.

Hi Ram,

A wonderful addition to your series. The grasshopper is exquisite with beautiful colors and details. I am sure that very few of us have ever seen such an insect. The plant is beautiful too - I love seeing the buds along with the opened flower. A superb composition of a fascinating subject.

It continues to be an amazing series of a small pesky creature with clothes like a lamb:-) to mix a few metaphors and leave some words out. Very nice.
