[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Red-necked Falcon is found in semi-desert, savannah and other dry open country with some trees, but also riverine forest. It often perches hidden in the crown of a Borassus palm (Borassus aethiopium), and chases birds, bats and large insects with a fast dashing flight. It is most active at dawn and dusk, hunting below the tree canopy. It often hunts in pairs, sometimes utilizing a technique in which one of the pair flies low and flushes up small birds while the other follows higher up and seizes the prey as it rises from cover.

This is also called as Red necked Falcon. rarely it sits on the ground. I am seeing this for the first time around bangalore city. fortunately the clouds opened up when i shot this on a cloudy day.!!

Hi Satish. This is a first class picture of a beautiful bird. Which you have taken so well with sharp focusing and fine detail in the feathers . The bird looks so bold standing looking at you. very well done TFS.

Hello Satish, nice to meet you! This is a wonderful shot of Red-headed Merlin on the ground, quite rare. I have kept it as a pet in the not too distant past and it is an excellent predator and a faithful bird, used to roam free with us...thanks for sharing....warmest regards/Abid

good sharpness all around and the catch light in the eye is super.
i like the pov!

Hi Satish
Great shot of this beautiful raptor
The background is a little strange on my monitor. I've run it through NeatImage and reduced the noise a bit I think, hope you don't mind.
The falcon itself is great, very proud and sharp with excellent plumage details. Good composition too.
