Well now it looks some type of snipe fly. Thank you very much Radek (cicindella).

Rhagionidae or snipe flies are a small family of flies containing 21 genera.

Rhagionidae are medium–sized or large flies with slender bodies and stilt–like legs. The mouthparts are adapted for piercing and many species are haematophagous as adults, while others are predatory on other insects. They are typically brown and yellow flies, and lack bristles. The larvae are also predatory and are mostly terrestrial, although some are aquatic.

Snipe flies in the genus Rhagio are sometimes called "down-looker" flies after their habit of perching head-downward on tree trunks.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Subphylum: Hexapoda
Class: Insecta
Subclass: Pterygota
Infraclass: Neoptera
Superorder: Endopterygota
Order: Diptera
Suborder: Brachycera
Infraorder: Tabanomorpha
Superfamily: Tabanoidea
Family: Rhagionidae

Third fly ID in two days now for 3 dif people...Still an easy to ID shot...With all of your particular expertise, I am somewhat surprised you do not know. You're the fella I come to for an ID in India for sure..Very clever and well defined body parts to the fly..it looms larger than it may actually be!

Hi Haraprasan,

The lighting is wonderful showing off the marvelous colors of the eyes. I love the pose with the rear up and the opened transparent wing. Excellent colors and details of this fly.

Hello Hara,
I don't feel that this is a Robber Fly, the legs are too long and hairless, but having said that I can't give you an ID of this beautiful and unusual species of fly that you have captured with great sharpness from a fine POV.
This is in fact a great macro and it would be sad if thie species of fly it portrays has no name.
Thanks for sharing it,
Ivan

Hello Haraprasan, great mactro capture.
TFS and regards,

Hi Haraprasan!
I really can not find the words to describe this picture. I am not sure what was the size of this fly, but probably not bigger than 10-14mm. Fantastic capture, another one which I would like to see in the PES gallery ;>
According to the ID - it is not robber fly (Asilidae). For me it looks a little as member of Rhagionidae, but the true is that it can be something different.
Anyway, colours, sharpness (wonderful eyes!) and DOF are perfect. Really great work my Friend!
TFS and please show us more! :>
