[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Known to be one of the most common butterflies in India, the Peacock Pansy appears like an Orange-face Owl, thus scaring away potential invertebrate predators.

Only when I was reading about this butterfly, I came to know that even butterflies are highly territorial in behaviour. Pansies are one of the best examples of such behaviour, who often chases away intruders.

Scientific classification is as follows -

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Genus: Junonia
Species: J. almana

Hi Richa, This is a good record picture of peacock pansy! on the nit side i can its bit overexposed which could have been easily corrected with levels adjustment in any good photo editing software. ( GIMP is free )

Hello Richa,

Great shot, very sharp!
Beautiful butterfly with "eyes"!

Good picture, Richa, despite your model being a little decrepit.
The focus is evenly sharp and the colours are pleasant to look at. Goutham's observation that there may be slight over-exposure here and there is quite relevant.
All the best.

Hello Richa,

The wing pattern is skillfully captured, with the fake eyes as a dominant feature!
Good colour reproduction, sharp details and the subject is well framed...

Greetings,

Nice shot. The colours look beautiful. A little under exposure would have looked even better I guess. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Ciao Richa, splendid butterfly with wonderful colors, great sharpness and fine details, very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Hello Richa,

You got the shot from near, well done. It is difficult to chase these little guys. They are very agile. We need pretty much patience too :)

Thanks for the shot.
