Blue Mormon
Papilio polymnestor (Cramer)
Papilionidae family
wingspan: 120-150 mm

One of the large butterfly in India, very difficult to spot resting like this. Here it prefers shadow place to rest and avoids sunny place. It also looks beautiful on flight with lazy wing beat, flashing the blue hind wings.
This one I captured in our neighbors garden under good weather conditions. Its difficult to expose as the black dominates the butterfly.

Hallo Nagaraj
Great capture and pleasant sight. Colours are emphasised well against the green leaves of the it is resting on. A delightful composition. The texture and markings reminds me of some dress material for a fancy dress. Really striking! Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

I've never seen this butterfly, 'Na!
Very well framed, and beautifully exposed!

Helo Nagaraj,
A brilliant close view of this fantastic Mormon. Excellent details of the wing markings and I love the blue color. The beautiful background makes it really stand out!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

beautiful butterfly. I have only one chance to get it. I am seeing this butterfly every day flying.

Hello Nagaraj! Amazing butterfly, wonderful contrast and sharpness. Ideal natural light and colours. Good macro. Good luck!

Dear Nagaraj!

As you say, it's difficult to find the right exposure for picture that mainly is composed of dark and bright colours. But you have managed this very well, both the dark and the bright parts still reveal fine details. Moreover, the overall impression generated by the picture is very pleasant.

Kind regards

Hi Nagaraj,

Excellent approach throughout this butterfly. I like the concept of the picture, with an environment that leaves very well see the conditions in which it was taken. We notice that a picture is difficult to achieve, and your note clarifies this very well.

Good work. Excellent result.

Preciosa toma Nagaraj !!!
