[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Large White (Pieris brassicae), also called Cabbage Butterfly, Cabbage White, or in India the Large Cabbage White, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae.

Distribution

The Large White is common throughout Europe, north Africa, and Asia to the Himalayas often in agricultural areas, meadows and parkland. It is a strong flier and the British population is reinforced in most years by migrations from the continent. Scattered reports of the Large White from the northeastern United States (New York, Rhode Island and Maine) over the past century are of a dubious nature and indicate either accidental transport or intentional release. Such introductions threaten to establish this agricultural pest in North America.

This is no ordinary large white Ram.
This is a nice capture of a female Indian Cabbage White, (Pieris canidia), a close relative.
Though the BG is busy it stands out well with nice sharpness and colours, the half open wing position being taken from a POV that shows most of the features of both surfaces of the wings, which facilitates an ID.
Thanks and have a great weekend,
Ivan

Hello Ram,
nice shot of this Cabbage White, the multicolour bg looks very lovely, nice colours, well composed shot, nice pov.Best regards Siggi

How can I support an image like that one is the obvious question? How to present my view without insulting the person? How? Well, let me try! Good day Ram! Thanks to the incredible knowledge of Ivan ( Argus ) that specie was Identified correctly. I think that you should change your note at first. On the other hand that image is Hmm m m ...mm a bit soft. The chosen point of view does not allows us to see enough of the butterfly. In fact in my opinion this is the most inappropriately chosen viewing angle . Well, I know in nature you do not have the options to chose your point of view often, and that's the case maybe here. Despite your good intention I think that you have failed to impress us today dear RAM. Well maybe next time! Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you at TN soon!
Regards,
George Veltchev

Ciao Ram, I think Ivan is right for Id, I never see Pieris canidia in nature, but sure it isn't Pieris brassicae, great macro of wonderful butterfly, fine details, splendid sharpness and wonderful colors, very well done my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Ciao Ram. Too difficult POV to obtain good DOF and details. Anyway a lucky capture for a rare specie I think. I see a good light's management.

Roberto
