|We were honeymooning this year in a jungle resort named Aranya|
in Lataguri which is also the entry point for the national park
One day we planned to visit Chapramari bit of the forest. For that. we took the national highway number 31 in the direction of Chalsa, little knowing that this section of the road is a well known elephant corridor. Sightings of elephant crossing the highway are regular by the vehicular traffic.
We stopped at a point where several other cars were stopping. A little inspection of the left side woods revealed a medium sized herd with a tusker waiting to cross the road. Our driver told us they wait for hours to get the road empty for about ten minutes (which is pretty rare given that it's a highway).
Since they were inside the woods I did not come up with a clear foreground shot. Even so, after jumping out of the car, and risking my life against the herd standing less than 30 yards.
This is one of the baby elephant of the herd which I could shoot with a little clarity.
