The Pioneer (Scientific name: Anaphaeis aurota) is generally found in dry deciduous & scrub forests. It is a fast & erratic flier but I saw this resting on the large leaf on my recent trip to Panchmarhi...

Another charateristic of this butterfly is the coloration of its underside - during the dry season it is white but during wet seasons the color becomes yellow..
