i found this beautiful Dragonfly on yesterday, at the Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary. at first i had no idea about its ID. many of them were flying above my head... and i was amazed by their beauty!
i got their ID from one of the visitors who brought many of his students and was teaching them about the spiders and their webs.
yesterday was a successful day to me. i met many new insects, photographed many butterflies and seen many birds. thanks to Abhishek :)

I like this tiger dragonfly, we do not have this one in Spain, good focus on the body of the tiger. Congratulation.

Hello Ruby,
I have never heard of this particular dragonfly until now. I just had to google it up and check it out more closely. This is certainly one of the most uniquely marked dragonflies I have ever viewed.
Wonderful shot taken in a pleasing pose and showing very good detail. The soft light is very attractive and you managed to get just the right exposure. Well done!!
Ron
It is a Picturewing dragonfly, Ruby, most probably a male.
I had shot it for the first and last time in Mumbai in 2006. You can see one image of it I posted in July 2011 (page 6 0f my album).
Your picture of it quite sharp, crisp and colourful. The ambient light has been used very effectively and the neat BG enhances the appeal of this composition.
Ram
