Excellent photo of this Greater Flameback Woodpecker taken from a very good POV. The whole bird is visible. Good sharpness, beautiful natural colours and a fine composition.

This is a fantastic bird. I like woodpeckers a lot and this one is very special. Never seen this species before. Natural environment, good sharpness and also the pose in the tree is great.

Just an update on the taxonomy. The C. lucidus complex (you speak of complex when you know that a bird with lots of different races is overlumped, meaning that they know that there is more than one species, but they haven't done all of the genetic workups - but, in this case, now they have).
This is now still Greater Flameback (not Greater Flameback Woodpecker - woodpecker is considered to be redundant), but the scientic binomen is Chrysocolaptes guttacristatus. This is a male nominate guttacristatus, therefore, C. g. guttacristatus. The other races still associated with the Greater Flameback, are, beside the nominate guttacristatus, also socialis, indomalayicus, and andrewsi.
Chrysocolaptes lucidus is now a Philippine endemic species, i.e., Buff-spotted Flameback.

A very attractive bird indeed, and captured in fine detail. It actually reminds me a lot of our Pileated Woodpeckers we have here in Ohio, except the coloration is different.
Love it's beautiful plumage and red crest. The bill (like our pileated) is quite large, making it a very useful tool when searching for food or hollowing out a nest cavity.
For not being edited at all, this is an excellent shot!!

This Woodpecker is truly spectacular, Ruby.
Excellent capture from a very apt perspective that shows the plumage and the head of the bird with utmost clarity.
Very nice natural colours.
Any workshop on your image would ruin its original beauty.

Publication intéressante mais l'angle de prise de vue et la profondeur de champ ne permettent pas d'apprécier pleinement la finesse des détails et la délicatesse des couleurs.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

exciting picture i would say as I have tried a few times but to no avail. This woodpecker is pretty and its head is its crown.
Exciting composition among the natural surroundings.
Lively composition with the shiny eye well captured.
