[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I found this picture of a Cabbage White in my archives of last year. I had taken it during my trek to a high pass in the Himalayas at an altitude of nearly 8000 ft. I know I have almost chipped off the wing-tip of the butterfly, but my explanation is that I had taken this picture in a reflex action when this butterfly landed right under my nose while I was taking pictures of an Indian Tortoiseshell on a nearly flower. I was using my 70-300mm lens at that time and had no alternative but to shoot it as it was.

The Small White (Pieris rapae) is a small to medium-sized butterfly species of the Yellows-and-Whites family Pieridae. It is also known as the Small Cabbage White and in New Zealand, simply as White Butterfly. The names "Cabbage Butterfly" and "Cabbage White" can also refer to the Large White.

It is widespread and populations are found across Europe, North Africa, Asia, and Great Britain. It has also been accidentally introduced to North America, Australia and New Zealand where it causes damage to cultivated cabbages and other mustard family crops. The caterpillar stage alone is responsible for crop damage because of which it is referred to as the Imported Cabbage worm.

Hello Ram
Excellent composition.Good point of view and sharp image.Colours are great.Maybe the tip of the wing should have been a little lower to avoid touching the frame but no matter what it is a very pleasant image to look at

Hello Ram,
The colors of your picture are strikig and we open the thumbnail quickly to discover this butterfly-shot. If colors and sharpness are excellent, I'm agin not so sure about the composition. Too tight on the top and the bottom, but I know that you aware of it. Otherwise rather an artistical way to see things.
Kind regards
