The Red-crested Pochard is a large diving duck. Its breeding habitat is lowland marshes and lakes in southern Europe and Central Asia, wintering in the Indian Subcontinent and Africa.
Scientific name: Netta rufina
The photograph was taken at Chupi, Purbasthali in Burdwan district.An oxbow lake developed in the year 1981 when river Ganges changed its direction of flow at the time of flood.
Presently it is one of the most popular spot to watch migratory birds. |
