Hi all,

This is a bird which i saw for the first time in my life when I visited "Ganesh Gudi" camp of Jungle lodges in the midst of Western ghats, India.

The light was not all that great and i had to push the ISO to 800, to get this shot.

The Black-naped Monarch or Black-naped Blue Flycatcher (Hypothymis azurea) is a slim and agile passerine bird belonging to the family of monarch flycatchers. They are sexually dimorphic with males having a distinctive black patch on the back of the head and a narrow black half collar ("necklace") while the female is duller and lacks the black markings. They have a call that is similar to that of the Asian Paradise Flycatcher and in tropical forest habitats pairs may join mixed-species foraging flocks. Populations differ slightly in plumage colour and sizes.

Hello Goutham,
Remarkable photo of this Black-naped Monarch. Beautiful clear colours in great sharpness and details. Taken from a very good POV in a fine composition.

I get a lot of noise at ISO 800, Goutham!
On the other hand, you have done a fantastic job with it. This blue bird is a new species for me and it is really beautiful. Black nape is just discernible from your perspective. The curved branch for a perch adds beauty to the composition.
Thanks and regards.

Hello Goutham,
What a cute little bird. I never had seen it before. Love the "generous" composition according place to the background, and the play of blue and green color. Well done as usual.
Kind regards
