Brown Fish Owl (Bubo zeylonensis or Ketupa zeylonensis)
Of the 4 sub species of this Owl this is the Common Brown Fish Owl (Bubo zeylonensis leschenault) which is larger and light brown in colour. This is found in the Indian sub continent.
This species is very nocturnal but it can often be located by the small birds that mob it while it is roosting in a tree. It feeds mainly on fishes, frogs and aquatic crustaceans.
In fact we located this one perched high up in the tree on the banks of a stream flowing through forested valley. There was another one perched in another tree beyond camera range. In the dry bed of the stream we found an older owl not being able to fly, failed eye sight and most probably on the verge of dying. These owls were actually keeping a look out on the old and vulnerable owl below. Guess they must have tight family bonds.
Being nocturnal, these owls are difficult to sight in the day time. |

Namashte Himanshu-It seems this Owl was very far and 300mm wasn't sufficient. But overall we can cherish its beauty and colour in its natural habitat.Well done.thanks for sharing.Regards and have a nice time-Srikumar

Bonsoir Himanshu,
L'éclairage me semble insuffisant mais le sujet est tout de même bien valorisé dans son environnement.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
