|Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)|
It's a wide spread resident seen near fresh waters in open country or mangroves, paddy fields and sea shores. The bird is greenish blue on head, scapulars wings, orange ear coverts, turquoise line down on back. Sexes are alike. Nest is a horizontal tunnel dug into a bank of stream or ditch. Feeds on Small fish, tadpoles and aquatic insects.
