Blue Pansy butterfly doesn't come by easily. I get to shoot this species only once or twice a year. Moreover, it's a shy creature and senses your presence from a distance. This year in May, I was able to shoot it for 2 consecutive days. I was particularly lucky on the first day when I got to shoot it from a dorsal perspective. I had to do it with my 70-300mm zoom since you have to get very close to use a macro lens. Obviously, you don't get the real quality by using a zoom lens.

Blue Pansy, Junonia orithya, is a nymphalid butterfly with many subspecies occurring from Africa, through southern and south-eastern Asia and in Australia. In India, its common English name is the Blue Pansy, but in southern Africa, it is known as the eyed pansy as the name blue pansy refers to Junonia oenone. In Australia this butterfly is known as the blue argus.

Hi, Ram. This is an excellent point of view from above to capture the beauty of this Blue Pansy butterfly. Excellent depth of field and the interplay of cool colors on the subject and warm colors of the flower below makes it very attractive. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Ram,

Hello Ram,
I can sense your excitement at getting a chance to photograph such a colorful specimen. The markings are simply gorgeous and the colors vibrant yet natural. Your 70-300 zoom did a good job for you in this particular instance. I wish we had this species here in Ohio as it is so pretty.
Ron

Hello Ram,
I like the unusual colors of this interesting species. How nice are the blue colors on the upper side of the wings....
Marius.

Hello Ram

The soft light and color tones are lovely, fine POV and the diagonal framing
giving dynamism to the photo, lovely contrast of the color tones, TFS
