[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Arican and Asiatic lions are close in genetic make-up.But 10000 years of separation has made in them distict differences.Asiatic lions are slightly smaller with lesser mane.
Once they roamed free from Mesapotamia to Persia and Estern India. With the invention of gun powder, they slowly started getting liquidated. The last of the Asiatic lions in Persia and Turkey were shot at the end of 18th centyry. The last two lions in Afghanistan were shot in the 19th century and Pumjab also followed. It is recorded that a bunch of British Army officers shot and killed almost two dozens of lions in and around Delhi in 1857 immediately after the Sepoy Mutiny.Nawab of Junagadh suddenly woke up to see only a dozen lions are left in his domain in the forests of Gir.He took up with Lord Curson, the Viceroy and put a stop to this killing. Now Aiatic Lions are only found in the forests of Gir and by careful protection, its population is increased to more than 500 now.

Hello Navnith,
A nice close up shot of this male Asiatic Lion. The facial detail is very good and you made wonderful eye contact. Its muscular features are quite evident, especially in its front legs. The image seems to have a sepia color tone to it.

A very nice picture with a great information added.
Thank you for sharing it. Congratulation.

As cores retratam a tristeza e sofrimento aparente deste animal, que em outras condições são exuberantes.
