Common Red Skimmer

|The third picture of the Common Red Skimmer series in which I have tried to take a close-up picture of the eyes of this male of the species.|
I wouldn't know how to avoid getting that glaring spot of natural light bouncing off the eyes. I did not use fill flash for this picture today since the light was quite bright.
Could experts suggest how to avoid that kind of exposure?

Great close up shot of the head and thorax area. Exceptional detail and lovely rich color. The exposure is right on the money. I have had the exact same problem with light glare on some of my dragonflies eyes. The onlly thing that has helped me was to take multiple images from a slightly lower POV each shot, until the glare is not visible. Overcast days are also a big help in stopping this maddening situation.
