The Small Minivet is 16cm long with a strong dark beak and long wings. The male differs from most other common minivets by having grey, not glossy black, upperparts and head, and orange underparts, fading to yellow on the belly, orange tail edges, rump and wing patches.The female is grey above, with yellow underparts (including the face), tail edges, rump and wing patches. The Small Minivet (Pericrocotus cinnamomeus) is a small passerine bird. This minivet is found in tropical southern Asia from the Indian subcontinent east to Indonesia.

This Bird was sitting on this perch every time it visits its young ones in a nearby tree. I set a Matchan ( It was 22ft. high in the Thorny tree.) and through my blind I took this picture. This was natural perch and the lighting was good in the morning and gave a good back-lighting effect. The BG was Green tree some distance away. Both the parents were feeding the chics, But male is more colorful. I used Nikon S-801, with Tokina ATX -100-300mmf-4 lens on a tripod. I used Vivitar 285 flash for fill in. Manual Exposure.

Hi Satish!

Splendid composiition. I like the diagonal made by the branch and the bird is well located on the strengh line on the right (rule of thirds). Backlighting creates a beautifull rimlight against the dark BG.

Nice photo ! I love the composition, with this diagonal branch, it works very well. The colors on the bird's breast are wonderful, so warm, so intense. Good BG, too.

hi Satish! perfect composition and lighting, and such an interesting subject too. Perhaps it could've benefited from more sharpness, but I guess given the conditions in which the photo is taken that would've been impossible. All in all, a great picture, TFS!

Bonjour Satish. C'est une très belle image. La composition est très bonne et la lumière très belle. Le fond sombre met bien l'oiseau en évidence. Bravo pour cette belle photo.
