[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had a hectic time chasing this butterfly. I wanted to capture it in its open-wing stance, but I couldn't; it would open and close its wings a couple of time and then settle down with them fully closed.
This is a rather familiar species from Asia, so I would make my note brief.

The Plain Tiger, also named Lesser Wanderer Butterfly is a common butterfly which is widespread in Asia. It belongs to the Danaid subfamily (Danainae, that is, Crows and Tigers) of the Nymphalidae Family, that is, the Brushfooted butterflies.
The Plain Tiger can be considered the archetypical Danaid of India. Accordingly, this species has been dealt with greater detail than other members of its subfamily in India.
The Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus) is a medium sized butterfly with a wingspan of about 7–8 cm. The body is black with many white spots. The wings are tawny the upper side being brighter and richer than the underside. The apical half of the fore wing is black with a white band. The hind wing has 3 black spots around the center. The hind wing has a thin border of black enclosing a series of semicircular white spots
The range of the Plain Tiger extends from North Africa to Greece, China and Sulawesi. It is found throughout Sri Lanka, India and Myanmar.
It is found in every kind of country including the desert and right up into the mountains till 9000 feet. Primarily, it is a butterfly of open country and gardens. Unlike the Common Tiger, its closely related species, it is least common in damp, forested, hilly regions.
This butterfly is perhaps the commonest of Indian butterflies and is known to everyone. It flies from dawn to dusk, frequenting gardens, sipping from flowers and, late in the day, fluttering low over bushes to find a resting place for the night.
This butterfly rests with its wings closed. When basking it sits close to the ground and spreads its wings with its back to the sun so that the wings are fully exposed to the sun's rays.

lovely shot. the chasing has paid off. composition is good. the sharpness is excellent. dof is nice. a leaf in front is spoiling the show a bit but while shooting butterfly one can not help and this leaf can be ignored easily.

as usual a very good shot.

Hello Ram,
Wonderful butterfly close up.I liked POV,clear details, colors, lighting and composition a lot.

Hi Ram,
This butterfly looks a bit like the Monarch! They have the same colors; this is so interesting! This is a beautiful portrait of him. I really like the way you composed this image with this great natural environment. Details are really sharp and I like this good POV and DOF. This is very well done again with interesting notes! Thanks,

Hi Ram, I am glad you managed to get this one captured anyway, because it is a real beauty. It does indeed look a bit like the Monarch. The technical part looks allright to me. A bit of a shame of the one leave.
Regards, Jacob

Hi Ram,
What a beautiful butterfly! It could inspire fashion couturiers. Your picture shows it in an optimal light and the green of the leaves puts it even more in evidence.

a rewardable effort! I know how hard it is to catch this butterfly especially in the day time in closer distance...
Perfect angle with very sharp and detailed image....

Hi Ram,
Your effort paid off well here. The spot on exposure has rendered beautiful rich clors and fine detail. The intricate detail and pattern shown in the Tiger's wings looks great. The overall composition and framing of the shot are excellent. Great informative notes!

Gotta revisit for pts. tomorrow

Hi Ram
Superb macro.
Great composition and colours.
Also very good sharpness.
I like it.

Hello Ram,
magnificent capture of the Plain Tiger, peacefully at rest.
Perfect colours and details, very well balanced artistic composition.
Just discovered this pretty image in your portfolio, have missed it at the time you sent it as I was out on a trip to that Plain Tiger's beautiful homeland those days. :)
Very good picture, maybe just slightly oversharpened, but certainly well presented.
Thank you, my friend. With best regards,
