[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesteday i had been to my weekend trip to Thoseghar Waterfal which is around 150 km from Pune. One pf the most beautiful places in Maharashtra and lesser known to peoplw. I had gone this place almost 10 years back. But nothing is changed. The place is still as beautiful as ever. There found som dragonflies. It was like a wonder for me. They were present at height of almost 6500ft from sea levels. They were present in stale water and not in flowing water. The shots were taken at around 2 pm in the afternoon when sunlight was at its fullest strength. This is Orthetrum coerulescens which is also caled Keeled Skimmer.
This species resembles the Black-tailed Skimmer but is slimmer and the male has no black tip. Females and immature males lack the black abdominal pattern. The pterostigma is orange and the thorax usually bears pale stripes. It breeds mainly in peat bogs and flies from June to September.
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Arthropoda

Class: Insecta

Order: Odonata

Suborder: Anisoptera

Family: Libellulidae

Genus: Orthetrum

Species: O. coerulescens

Hello Mahesh,
What a beautiful powder-blue dragonfly! Excellent focus and it looks fantastic against the bright orange sunlit ground. Very nice composition too.

Hello Mahesh,
This is a fine Dragonfly shot. Pretty sharp and the powder blue of the body contrasting very well with the BG and the stone.
Well done,
Best wishes, Ivan

Excellent shot of the Keeled Skimmer, Mahesh.
Good point of view with sharp focus, clear details and natural colours. This species is clearly different from the Black Tailed Skimmer I shot in India this summer.
I appreciate your interesting note too.

Namaste Mahesh,
an impressive sharp picture of this Orthetrum contrasting well against the background. The beautiful blue colour of the dragonfly is presented clearly. Nice point of view and pretty good composition, as well.
Best wishes, Peter

What a beautiful dragonfly!
Very nace!

Hello Mahesh,
In this presentation I found a few very interesting for me details. The first one is that I did not expect that O. caerulescens is known also from India. The second is to read some interesting details about place where to took this photo.
DOF and POV are very good too.
Best regards,
