Hi everybody

I got this white heron few days back around a lake in Bangalore. They also known as the Great White Egret, The Great Egret , or Common Egret, is a wading egret, found in most of the tropical and warmer temperate parts of the world, although it is very local in southern Europe and Asia. It is called Kotuku in New Zealand. It should not be confused with the Great White Heron, which is a white morph of the Great Blue Heron found in Florida.

The Great Egret is a large bird with all white plumage, as much as 101 cm long and weighing up to 950 g. It is only slightly smaller than the Great Blue or Grey Herons. Apart from size, the Great Egret can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet. It also has a slow flight, with its neck retracted. This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes and spoonbills, which extend their necks.

And also here are some info about photo:

Hello Behrad,
Lovely and interesting capture. What was at BG,a cow?I liked POV,contrast and composition a lot.
TFS..:-)

Hello Behard,
This is one of the most difficult kinds of image to calibrate. I mean, this white on this dark BG is really not easy. Is it a cow in BG? This is s a nice capture of this bird but I think the white are a little OE. None less, you caught nice details on its head and beak with a funny shadow on the cow (?)Thanks,
Claudine

bonjour Behrad
bien vu,j'aime comme ce heron ,les couleurs ressortent bien sur le BG presque noir.
jolis details et couleurs.

Merci et au revoir...JP

Lovely shot with a cow for the background, Behrad :-)! The Common Egret and cattle can be seen together in many rural parts of India. They pick vermin from domestic animals' skins and also have rich pickings when a field is being plowed with lots of worms turning up.
The picture is good, though the contrasts would have been much better if the bird were standing against the entirely black part of the cow.
TFS.
Ram
