This is an endemic Neptis species occuring exclusively in the Sulawesi region:
- Neptis ida
- family: Nymphalidae

Species information
Distribution: Sulawesi region - i.e. Sulawesi and the islands of Banggai, Togian, Buton, Muna, Kabaena, Tukangbesi and Selayar.
Several subspecies of N. ida were described which are distributed in the different parts of Sulawesi mainland and adjacent smaller islands. This specimen probably belongs to ssp. carbonespersa, but there is some confusion on the intraspecific taxonomy.

Toli Toli, a place north of Kendari in Sulawesi-Tenggara with a long beach and primary rain forest.
(Do not cofuse with the well-known Toli Toli in North Sulawesi).

- Natural light
- no wind
- very hot and humid
- handheld

This is very beautiful butterfly which almost looks like common sailor we find here except the few changes in the marking and color. This one looks more beautiful. Good capture. tfs.

Ciao Peter, beautiful diagonal composition with fantastic butterfly, splendid details and superb sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Peter,
maybe the species is endemic but still looks like our European Neptis ;-)
Perfect shot anyway, thanks
