[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I will continue to present pictures of species which I observed on my trip to Sulawesi in March/April 2009.

Here, I show
- Ideopsis juventa which belongs to the
- family: Danaidae
a relative of the monarch (Danaus plexippus) and the plain tiger (Danaus chrysippus).
Wing span of juventa: about 70 mm.

Information on the plant
The plant which has attracted the specimen is a
- Heliotropium species
- family: Boraginaceae

which contains pyrrolizidine-alkaloids.

Location
Porabua - a small village in the vast mountaineous and rain forest covered region north of the line Kolaka - Kendari (Indonesia, Southeast-Sulawesi). The village is situated at Konaweha river.

Information on the region
Sulawesi constitutes the major part of a particular zoogeographical unit, called Wallacea, which separates the Oriental from the Australian Region.
Sulawesi has a high proportion of endemic species which surmounts more than 50% of species for many taxonomic units.

Conditions
- bright light
- no wind
- handheld

Sabine - wishnugaruda
