The picture shows the swallow-tail butterfly

- Graphium agamemnon
- family: Papilionidae

The species is common in south-east Asia and also on the island of Sulawesi.
However, it is a strong flyer and hardly settles. As a consequence of the "wild" behaviour of agamemnon you mostly find specimens with raptured wings.
Wing span: about 8 - 9 cm.

Rain forest at the small Silui river close to Porabua.
Sulawesi-Tenggara, Indonesia.

Many thanks for sharing! keep posting!
Nice evening!

Hallo Peter
This is a wonderful macro which is presented in a pleasant manner. The details of this Swallow-tail butterfly could not be portrayed in a better way than you have here. It is a lovely butterfly with delicate features and a beautiful combination of colours which is well seen. I am always amazed by the shape of this specie and that of the Commas wings as it looks as if it was shaped and cut by hand. I very much like the variation of different greens in the image, as it creates a "cool" effect. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Peter,
Fantastic shot of this very colorful butterfly. His wings may not be in top shape, but he is still very attractive and his markings and colors are stunning to view.

Hello Peter,
Well done. Unusual to see a swallowtail at rest, and you have captured it with excellent technique. This one looks as though he is getting t the latter stages of life and perhaps slowing down a bit - just like me!! Cheers

One of the beautiful black and green butterfly, we call it here as Tailed Jay, yes, always busy. This specimen bit old and lost its charm but still lovable. tfs.
