Another Neurothemis species among today's postings:
Foozi has shown Neurothemis fluctuans from Malaysia.

The species shown here is
- Neurothemis terminata
- family: Libellulidae

The species is not confined to Sulawesi in its distribution but occurs in large parts of South East Asia. It is a very common dragonfly but is always impressive.

Location See: Map
Sungai Silui, a small tributary of the Konaweha river , in the vicinity of Porabua - a small village in the vast mountaineous and rain forest covered region north of the line Kolaka - Kendari (Indonesia, Southeast-Sulawesi).

Conditions
- insufficient natural light
so that f6.3 and 1/60sec were possible only
- no wind
- handheld
Patience is necessary to come close to this shy dragonfly.

Hello Peter,

Wow! What a fantastic dragonfly!!! The red colors are wonderful and you managed very well to get an excellent pov. The wings details are really impressive. The bg is a little bit too much present even if it is blurred but the dragonfly has enough punch to stay well showed.

Great pic and TFS,

Michel

Dragonflies are wonderful insects, and hard to photograph because they move quite fast. Wonderful capture and good light to get more amazing shots !

Best wishes from Europe!

Hi Peter.
During my absence, here in TN you have in your gallery a lot of beautiful shots - congratulations.
This is one of many great close-ups. Well composed capture of this fantastic dragonfly. I have become a POV and DOF with sharp detail on insects very well separated from the blurred background. I really like the wonderful red color. Great work! Thanks and Best regards.
